Washburn Rural Recaptures City Swim Meet Title |

Washburn Rural won 9 out of the 11 swiimming events and also won the diving competition to take home first place honors with the City Swim and Dive competition Wednesday and Thursday at the Capitol Federal Natatorium at Hummer Sports Park. Rural scored 512 points in the meet, to out distance runnerup Topeka High who scored 384 points. The Trojans, who were the defending City champions, were led by John Powell, who won the 100 meter backstroke event. Seaman took third place with 380 points, followed by Hayden with 301, Topeka West with 201, and Highland Park with 1 point.
The next swimming competition at Hummer will be the KSHSAA Boy's State Swim meet which will take place February 18th-20th. This year there will be a 5A-1A competion and a 6A competition. In prior years, all school classes competed in one meet.
