Trojans - Wildcats Battle to a Draw at Hummer Sports Park

September 2, 2010

ths_boys_soccer_2010_027.jpgWhoever says a 0-0 soccer game is boring didn't witness the sport at its best Wednesday night when the Topeka High Trojans took on the Hayden Wildcats. Perhaps the JV game, which was a well played contest ending in a 1 to 1 tie was an indication of things to come. The Trojans and Wildcats battled through a scoreless first half, second half and two overtime periods. The game was back and forth all night with both teams coming ever so close to getting a score. Both goalies made some great stops, and in the end, it was almost fitting that the game ended in a tie, because neither team deserved to lose. More boy's soccer action takes place this week, with Junction City playing Highland Park on Thursday.

The first football game of the season at the Weaver/Ervin Stadium at Chuck Lower Field will be this Friday, September 3rd when the Holton Wildcats come to Hummer to play the Topeka High Trojans. The game starts at 7 p.m. Come early to get a good seat, as a large crowd is anticipated. Check out the "Calendar of Events" on this site for dates of other contests and then come out to Hummer and find out why we say, "Something magical is always happening at Hummer"!
